Two Mean Uncles Sprokety-sproing to the Beat

A Short Story
by Gaia Nicolosi

Dovanice of the Banana Tribe had always loved quiet Camp Bananattor with its tricky, thirsty trees. It was a place where she felt happy.

She was a gremliny, acrobatic, gremlijuice drinker with chubby eyebrows and beautiful arms. Her friends saw her as a grieving, gifted gremlin. Once, she had even helped a crazy anthropomorphic banana cross the road. That’s the sort of woman he was.

Dovanice walked over to the window and reflected on her magical surroundings. The sun shone like gremlining owls.

Then she saw something in the distance, or rather someone. It was the figure of Ferdeor of the Avocado Tribe. Ferdeor was a clubby avocado with handsome eyebrows and solid arms.

Dovanice gulped. She was not prepared for Ferdeor.

As Dovanice stepped outside and Ferdeor came closer, she could see the fresh glint in his eye.

“I am here because I want to be calm more often,” Ferdeor bellowed, in a strange tone. He slammed his fist against Dovanice’s chest, with the force of 8865 humming birds. “I frigging love you, Dovanice of the Banana Tribe.”

Dovanice looked back, even more kawaiine and still fingering the spotty blade. “Ferdeor, zchoopity bobbob schloop!-Gotta do all that rimbimboop,” she replied.

They looked at each other with silly feelings, like two odd, old ostriches going at a very friendly anime convention, which had orchestral music playing in the background and two mean uncles sprokety-sproing to the beat.

Dovanice regarded Ferdeor’s handsome eyebrows and solid arms. She held out her hand. “Let’s not fight,” she whispered, gently.

“Hmph,” pondered Ferdeor.

“Please?” begged Dovanice with puppy dog eyes.

Ferdeor looked stodgy, his body blushing like a tired, tame teapot.

Then Ferdeor came inside for a nice drink of gremlijuice.
